A few weeks ago, I started thinking about how much I enjoyed including dramatic and beautiful landscapes and backgrounds in my wedding and engagement photos. Whether it’s on a mountain top or the middle of the city; morning, day, or night; I love it when I can include a couple in the stunning surroundings they are encompassed by. I began to think back to when I first got into photography. I was a Sr. in High School and I was taking Photography 101. As we were learning about different photographers and styles, I was immediately drawn to landscapes. More specifically, Ansel Adams landscapes. Equiped with an my dad’s old Olympus SLR (that’s right, not a DSLR), I began to try my hand at them. At first, they were terrible, but over the years I got better. Eventually, I started including landscapes in my engagement and wedding photography and was amazed at how they came out.

A few years before I took my first class my dad passed away. Maybe I was drawn to photography because I knew he enjoyed it or maybe it was just in my genes. Either way, I’m glad he had that old camera and I’m glad I picked it up.

I’ve put together a new portfolio page with my favorite landscapes and backgrounds. Most of them include couples but sometimes I like to get out and shoot my surroundings by myself.

Here are a few highlights…Enjoy!
