Well, it’s been an amazing year and we’re now at the tail end of the wedding season. Before wrapping things up in the next few weeks, here are Nate & Alissa’s Greetings from Buffalo Wedding photos!
I love these guys. I met them through my sister, who’s been close friends with Alissa since college. Nate & Alissa are about as down-to-earth as it gets and their wedding day was perfectly “them”. Everything about it seemed to be exactly what they wanted. As a friend, I really love seeing that!
We started out at Kallista Hair Salon where Alissa and her bridesmaids got their hair and makeup done. This was also the place Alissa had planned to finish getting ready. I was excited about having to get a little more creative to find some of the shots I wanted. I spotted a great place on the brick wall to hang her dress, but it was covered by a piece of art. Thankfully, the great people at Kallista were gracious enough to temporarily relocate the piece. By using just the light from the window, I got a unique look for the dress shots. I really love how they came out!
Just a few blocks away was Unitarian Universalist Church, where Nate and Alissa would soon be married. It’s a beautiful building and it was a beautiful ceremony. Afterwards, the bride and groom only had one place they wanted to go for photos–the brand new “Greetings From Buffalo” mural by artist Casey Milbrand at the Washington Market. Just a few hours earlier, it was officially unveiled with plenty of fanfare. When we got there, Nate & Alissa played a little corn hole and I got a few portraits. Once the sun lowered behind a nearby building, the lighting was perfect for the spot. I love everything about this mural! The design, the colors, and the fact that it’s another sign of our city getting stronger. It was a great spot and I’m excited to be the first photographer to bring a bride and groom to this spot that will, no doubt, be used by many.
Once the photos were wrapped up, it was time for the party! Nate & Alissa chose Karpeles Manuscript Library on Porter Ave–again, it was perfectly “them”. I loved, and was proud, to get to hear my sister give a beautiful speech. Fat Bob’s killed it with their signature BBQ spread and the party was awesome.
It was such a fun day! Congrats to Nate & Alissa! Thanks for letting me be a part of your incredible day!
