Another year, another wedding for this amazing family! This is the third wedding I’ve done with these brothers, and one more to go! One of the first weddings I ever shot was for Isaac’s older brother EJ. I still remember trying to retain myself from jumping up and down with excitement on my way out of the meeting where EJ and Edly booked me. It was the start to an amazing career and it also led me to this wedding, Isaac and Liz. You might remember their engagement photos from New York City about a year ago. I had a great time with them then and an even better time at their wedding.

The day started off fairly normal with the bride getting ready and then heading over to the church for the ceremony. We stopped off at Corn Hill for a few shots and then went to the High Falls Bridge. Before getting to the reception, we made one last stop at Cobbs Hill Park and Reservoir. I love this spot! It’s such an incredible view of downtown Rochester.

This family does receptions a little different. Instead of dancing, much of the reception is filled with toasts and speeches made by friends and loved ones. It’s unique but also refreshing. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good dance party, but getting to hear all the kind words and see the love shown to Isaac and Liz was pretty amazing. It’s a good reminder to take time to tell the people you care about how you feel.

About half way through the reception, the whole block lost power. This was a first for me! Everyone took it in stride and made it work. I reworked the way the Photo Booth worked and to run with all battery powered flashes and the groomsmen found a generator so we could as least use the microphones. It was an unexpected adventure but we all came together to make the best of a bad situation.

Thanks for having me, Isaac and Liz! All the best to you both in NYC!
